Orwell Carpentry, a carpentry and building company based in Ipswich, covers kitchen fitting in Ipswich and elsewhere in Suffolk, Essex and the surrounding areas. Orwell Carpentry fits kitchens on a labour only basis or as a full design, supply and fit, installing cabinets, worktops and appliances, and replaces worktops too.
What is the difference between installation only and design, supply and fit?
Labour only kitchen fitting is available from Orwell Carpentry, or as a full design, supply and fit refurbishment. Cabinets, worktops and appliances are all part of the installation. Worktop replacement is offered on its own too.
For design, supply and fit, Orwell Carpentry works with trusted local kitchen designers and suppliers. Having one firm in charge means somebody owns the sequence. Cabinets go in after the walls and services are prepared, never before.
What is the 27 rule for stairs?
There is no "27 rule" in the Building Regulations, and a staircase should be built to what the regulations actually say. For a private stair in England, Approved Document K sets a maximum rise of 220mm, a minimum going of 220mm, a maximum pitch of 42 degrees, and twice the rise plus the going between 550mm and 700mm. Rules garage conversion Kesgrave of thumb are fine for a first look, but a new flight should be drawn to the regulation figures.
Can you get power to a garden room?
Most garden rooms do not, as long as they meet certain rules. It has to be single storey, below 3 metres or 4 metres with a dual pitched roof, and limited to 2.5 metres close to a boundary. It must not be self contained accommodation or stand in front of the house.
Power is almost always wanted. Where there is already a supply to a shed, Orwell Carpentry can make sure it is suitable, or assist in getting a sufficient new supply installed.
Does a tired staircase have to be replaced?
Usually not. Swapping the newel posts, handrail and spindles transforms a staircase on its own, and oak veneer on the stringers gives the look of an all oak staircase. This is staircase work Orwell Carpentry takes on.
Oak handrails with glass balustrading are another way to change a staircase completely. The timber parts go in first, then templates are made for the exact glass sizes, and the glass is fitted on a return visit.
